I just found a fantastic blog called Castles Crowns and Cottages from one of my favorite blogs, Space for Inspiration.  CC&C is hosting a tour of paris that I can't wait to see AND participate in too! This is simply a fantastic idea. Visit the site and get excited!
See you then, my darlings!

My Talented Cousin Kirsten

My best friend and top 5 women I look up to: my cousin, Kirsten.

She is simply fantastic in every way and I'm so excited for her new venture: Beneforte Broccoli. She knows just about everything there is to know about food and lucky us, she's spreading some of her knowledge. Here she is in a step-by-step instructional video on Roasting Broccoli (her super yummy personal recipe!)
Here is another video on Roasted Broccoli Flatbread!
This is also her personal recipe!! She's just amazing.

Peach and Blackberry Jam

Now that I have millions of peaches, I have to figure out what to do with them all. First project: Peach and Blackberry jam. It was actually, not all that difficult. I would love to show step by step photos of the process but my computer somehow erased them from my camera without copying them first... awesome. So, here are some photos of the final product.

These photos were taken with my phone, so they're not the best but I promise the jam turned out fantastic! So here's the recipe:

  1. 5 large ripe peaches (soft and mostly red)
  2. 1 pint of blackberries
  3. 3 cups of sugar
  4. No sugar pectin
Place jam ready jars in oven at 200 degrees to warm the jars. Wash fruit. Pit and chop peaches. Smash 6 cups worth of blackberries and and peaches together. I placed the fruit in a blender to finely chop. In a large pan, stir fruit and sugar together. Continue to stir (seriously, don't stop stirring) until the mix comes to a slow boil. Add pectin as needed. Once mixture comes to strong boil, remove from heat and put jam into jars. Then process the jars and let sit for 24 hrs.

NOTE: Blackberries need to be cooked in small batches or they don't cook well.

Enjoy!!

Peach Festival

Hello Lovelies. This Saturday I went to the Schnepf Farms Peach Festival.
It's a little ridiculous how much fun it was to pick peaches--even when it's 90 degrees outside. I understand that I'm paying to drive out to the middle of nowhere to pick peaches that eventually end up in the same stores I patron... but fresh peaches are extremely difficult to find in Arizona. So, given the opportunity to pick peaches straight from the source was pretty awesome. I don't have children but it's certainly an activity that is a must for families.  My husband, reluctantly joined saying, "we pay them to pick their peaches," but of course he picked better peaches than me and, dare I say, he may have actually had a good time.
Aside from the rows and rows of peaches, Schnepf Farms has a roller coaster, farmers market, endless varieties of other produce, a train the winds around the property, petting zoo, and more. I could not believe how many things they had on the farm. My only problem now is what to do with all these peaches-- we have more bags that look just like this!!!

My Friend Sarah B.

Just as promised, here is another post about my seriously talented friend Sarah Birchfield. I had to go to an event tonight and asked Sarah to do a little up-do. This is what she came up with in about 15 min.

I wish I would have taken more photos because she did such an amazing job. Love this girl! ALSO, she just started her own blog critiquing movies. I'll post more about that later but check it out in the mean time: Sarah B Loves Movies.

State Side Presents

If you're into music and you live in Arizona you should know and live by State Side Presents. This amazing website not only tells you what band is going to play a show and where but it also (typically) has a sample of the bands music. It's a great way to find new bands and reconnect with forgotten bands.
My favorite part about State Side... I emailed them about a band that was touring all around AZ, told them to hook-it-up and then next thing I knew, that band had a gig here. Now, I'm not saying that I, in a round about way, got the Decembrists to play at in Phoenix but Charlie from State Side sure hooked it up! I'm So excited to see the Decembritsts and hopefully they'll be playing with The Head and the Heart.

Enjoy

Bunky Boutique

I'm not sure where to start with Bunky Boutique. I love everything about this place. Locally owned by one of my favorite people; there are a million reasons to visit Bunky. It shares a space with a coffee shop (Giant--also fantastic) and the layout was designed by Hayes McNeil (postinos). Most of my friends stop asking me where I get my clothes because they know the answer will mostly likely be Bunky. You will find things here that you won't find anywhere else. Every time I bring someone new into the shop, they're addicted.

So, here are some photos of Bunky... commence drooling
